The Feedback Body

Gallery 1308, Madison, WI | June - September 2026

The Feedback Body is an exhibition by Wisconsin-based video artist and filmmaker Samuel Karow, bringing together a group of video and sculptural works reconfigured as hybrid devices for seeing and recording. Across the exhibition, noise, feedback, distortion, and signal instability become part of the visual language.

Taken together, the works create a recursive environment in which observation loops back on itself. These are not simply machines that display images, but systems that process, distort, and reflect experience—blurring the boundaries between viewer, device, and memory.

The exhibition was presented in Gallery 1308 at Union South in Madison, Wisconsin, from June 8 through September 11, 2026.

In this video, Sam talks about the ideas and process behind The Feedback Body and what led him to bring these video and sculptural works together. He also reflects on his interest in technology, memory, distortion, and the strange ways we use machines to see and understand ourselves.
